BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Boise Fire's wildland firefighters are gearing up for another active wildfire season.
This week, firefighters have been at Expo Idaho pulling hoses, spraying water, practicing mobile attacks, and checking gear and equipment in preparation.
With fire officials expecting an above-average fire season, and several active wildfires already burning in the south, the crews need to be ready to deploy at any given time.
"Each individual engine company or truck company will have an opportunity to come out today and do some training," said Capt. Jason Lewis. "This training focuses mostly on hands-on, getting our hands on hose packs only used in the wildland area. They allow us to rapidly progress our hose packs so that we can extend on them so we can go out a long way away from a trail or a road. "
