City of Nampa free holiday cleanup

The city of Nampa and Republic Services are offering free holiday cleanup.

From Dec. 26 through Jan. 6 there will be free curbside pickup of real Christmas trees. The trees need to be cut in half for disposal.

During the first full week after Christmas residents may also get rid of bulk items and non-freon appliances for free, for freon appliances (refrigerators, A/C units, etc.) the regular fee of $64.05 still applies. You will have to call and schedule this pickup by 5pm the night before your regular trash pickup day. Bulky items are collected by a different truck than regular trash and recycling.

There are a few guidelines residence do need to fallow for the cleanup week.

Tree branches, shrubs, carpet and vinyl need to be cut into 4' or smaller pieces and tied into bundles that weigh less than 60 lbs. Miscellaneous household debris need to be placed in 32-gallon trash bins weighing no more than 60 lbs. Your large paper bags of grass clipping and yard debris as well as large and small furniture and household items will be collected as well. Though you do have to call and schedule a pickup for bulky items (items that are too big for a shopping cart). All items must be contained within tightly closed plastic bags, boxes, personal trash container weighing less than 60 lbs. or a trash bundle that is 4' or less in length and weigh less than 30 lbs. There is a limit of 10 trash bags or boxes weighing 30 lbs. or less per household.

Things that will not be accepted for pickup are liquids, tires, construction and home remodeling materials, recycling, sharp objects such as broken glass, syringes, or other hazardous waste, and rechargeable batteries.
